When a product is good and attractive, with a modern, original design, it has a good chance of becoming an essential item in your kitchen.
In its selection process, coup-de-food.com gives priority to well prepared, quick and easy-to-use products which have original packaging or ingredients. However, Coup de food does not deliberately set out to provide originality at all costs. From experience we know that if a product is too original or specialised, it can be difficult to use in everyday cooking. Therefore, we do not offer products that are likely to end up cluttering the shelves in your cupboards.
There are also excellent products that are not particularly attractive, so we have selected them anyway...quality takes precedence over the design obviously. Have a look at the site and discover them!
As well as attractive, good food, Coup de food is developing another speciality - high-quality local wines or "vin de pays" from the Charente region. Local wines or "vin de pays" from Charente used to be considered insignificant but they are now emerging from obscurity and dispelling the bad reputation they may have had, like the wines from Languedoc at one time. More and more wine producers are focussing on quality. There is a wide range of these wines and they can be served with many dishes, including dry white wines that go well with seafood platters, robust red wines with complex flavours and very fruity rosé wines.
You may wonder why we have chosen wines from the Charente region. Coup de food is offering some of the products sold at the gourmet food store opened in Saintes (Charente-Maritime) in 2005. We are in charge of both stores, i.e. the real store and the virtual store, and we want to help promote our local wines. These wines are the fruit of keen and careful work done by small farmers (producers and winegrowers) and they deserve to be known.
