Four Non-Invasive Body Contouring Techniques That You Must Know

Liposuction is perhaps the most effective yet notorious technique for body contouring. It indeed reduces excessive fat tissues in the most stubborn areas like thighs, flanks, abdomen, and buttocks. But its post-procedure symptoms can be unbearable. Swelling, bruising, and soreness can last for weeks and months, depending on how much fat tissues are removed from your body.

Luckily, technology in medical aesthetics has developed to offer less painful and non-invasive procedures. You can walk away from the clinic with a smile and without any discomfort. And here, you’ll learn four of them.

Cool Sculpting

cryolipolysisJust like what the name implies, cool sculpting involves a technique of freezing fat cells. And if this sounds outlandish to you, you don’t need to worry about its safety because FDA has approved cool sculpting, which also goes by the name of cryolipolysis. And studies have shown that this technique can reduce fat cells by up to 20 to 25 percent in the treated area.

If you are a male reading this, you should know that this method is not exclusively for women because it can treat pseudogynecomastia as well. It is a condition where fat cells develop breast-like features on men’s chests.

Radiofrequency

If cool sculpting damages the fat cells by freezing them, radiofrequency treatment does the same with heat. But you don’t need to worry about getting your skin burnt. The transmission method uses frequency to penetrate the outer layer of your skin. And the device for this treatment can reach the targeted fat cells with precision.

However, even though radiofrequency indeed eliminates fat cells, its coverage is limited to the targeted area. Consequently, if you don’t maintain a healthy diet, weight gain can still happen and ruin the result of your radiofrequency treatment.

High-intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)

The principle of HIFU is quite similar to radiofrequency, but instead of transmitting heat through radio-frequency, HIFU uses acoustic energy. The main difference is the intensity of heat penetration. HIFU is more effective than radiofrequency in terms of this. Therefore, HIFU is usually conducted in one session, while radiofrequency needs several sessions before you can get apparent results.

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)

LLLT describes how this procedure is conducted. You select an area of your body of which the fat cells you want to eliminate, and then laser beams will be directed towards it. Unlike the three techniques above, LLLT does not damage fat cells but accelerates your cellular metabolism into thinking that those fat cells are waste. As a result, discomfort is nearly non-existent.
